Fab lollies producer R&R Ice Cream reviews $3 million media account

Dec06
2011
Written by Steve Ratti

Steve’s breakdown: The licensee of Nestlé ice cream brands, R&R Ice Cream, is to review its estimated $3 Million media planning and buying account.

NORTH YORKSHIRE, UK: The media had previously been handled by WPP agency Mindshare, which handles the majority of the global Nestlé account. Mindshare has declined to pitch for the business. Three media agencies are said to be competing for the brief.

The Yorkshire-based company manufactures brands under license including former Lyons Maid brands Fruit Splits and Ice Cream Roll, and Nestlé products including Aero and Fab lollies.

The company also manufactures the low-fat ice cream range Skinny Cow.

R&R Ice Cream was formed on 5 May 2006, when Richmond Foods announced that it was to be taken over by US investment company Oaktree Investments, who united Richmond with Ronacodin, the largest German own-brand label, to make the biggest ice cream manufacturer in Europe.

The company manufactures more than 600 million ice-lollies each year.

R&R Ice Cream was not available for comment on the review of its media arrangements. Mindshare referred calls to the client.
