Steve’s breakdown: The Enthusiast Network has over 25 publications and now has brought on an ex-agency guy as CMO. Jonathan Anastasia has worked at MullenLowe and Saatchi & Saatchi so go say congratulations!
EL SEGUNDO, CA: TEN: The Enthusiast Network announced Tuesday that Jonathan Anastas has been hired as Chief Marketing Officer. He will lead all consumer marketing strategies, campaigns and programs for TEN’s network of brands, which includes Motor Trend and Automobile.
“One very appealing thing about this role was the complex matrix of marketing needs,” Anastas told Publishers Daily.
He said a big focus in 2016 will be TEN’s consumer-facing products and brands, including Motor Trend On Demand, where enthusiasts can access live motorsports and automotive video, as well as their automotive OTT/SVOD service and the re-imagining of their 2016 Dew Tour, an extreme sports circuit event.
To expand TEN’s marketing efforts, Anastas will also work on partnering with more brands and agencies.
“In a marketing eco-system that’s become increasingly focused on content and influencers, we’ve got an incredible story to tell about our audience of enthusiasts, the hours of content we’ve created around their passions, and the real world marketplace influence and spending power they wield,” he added.
Anastas will report to CEO Scott Dickey.
“[Anastas’] data-driven insights and proven track record of leveraging engaging content across new platforms will help elevate TEN’s products, marketplace position and will drive increased revenue across our brands and lines of business,” Dickey stated.
Anastas has worked in marketing, digital and data-driven industries for more than 20 years. He joins TEN from Roku, where he was global head of user acquisition, media and Web. Anastas helped the company exceed 9 million monthly active streamers for the first time in December 2015 and led marketing efforts for the successful launch of Roku 4.
Before working at Roku, Anastas was VP and global head of digital at Activision. Anastas also served as vice president and head of global marketing for Atari.
In addition, Anastas worked extensively in the advertising agency business, most recently as president of Tribal Worldwide’s Red Urban division, where he oversaw U.S. launch offices in New York and Dallas. He also held a number of management and account service roles at MullenLowe and Saatchi & Saatchi.
