Written by Steve Ratti

Steve’s breakdown: Here’s an account I worked on while at Cheil America so I know this ex-Nike guy is going to run into a bit of culture shock. Samsung is Korean before it’s anything else. Hopefully he’ll be able to pump up them but he’ll probably need some help. Are you up to the task?

DALLAS, TX: Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile)1, the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the U.S., today announced the appointment of Todd Pendleton as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Pendleton will report directly to Samsung Mobile President Dale Sohn and will be responsible for oversight of all marketing activities for Samsung’s mobile division in the U.S., including defining and leading integrated marketing, customer relationship management and customer experience management to create marketing strategies that align with Samsung Mobile’s corporate business strategy.

“We’re looking forward to elevating the Samsung Mobile brand with the addition of our new CMO as we continue to launch innovative mobile products,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Mobile. “Todd’s global marketing expertise will help build the brand by focusing on marketing initiatives that create strong, lasting brand connections with U.S. consumers.”

Pendleton joins Samsung with more than 17 years of brand marketing and communications experience. Before joining Samsung, he held the position of Global Brand Communications Director for Nike, Inc. where he was responsible for leading global marketing and communication initiatives that elevated brand awareness and delivered strong business results. Pendleton started at Nike, Inc. in 1996 and led some of Nike’s most iconic marketing campaigns.

Pendleton holds a Bachelors Degree from Northeastern University in Boston.
