Fieldpoint Private Appoint$ Chief Marketing Officer

Sep20
2011
Written by Steve Ratti

Steve’s breakdown: I smell money! Lots of it getting ready to talk rich people out of theirs. Seriously, this relatively new private bank just plunked down a bunch of cash for this new CMO. Get your leather-bound portfolio over there and pitch.

GREENWICH, CT: Michael White, whose work has helped shape the marketing efforts of Bank of America, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley, has joined Fieldpoint Private Bank & Trust as its first Chief Marketing Officer, it was announced today by Robert S. Matthews, President & CEO of the firm. Mr. White, who will be based in the firm’s Greenwich, CT, headquarters, will oversee brand strategy and advertising, as well as corporate, Member and internal communications, reporting to Mr. Matthews.

Mr. White joins Fieldpoint Private from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, where he served as Executive Director and Head of Product Marketing. Previously, Mr. White was Managing Director and Head of Marketing for Citi Global Wealth Management, with marketing responsibility for the firm’s Smith Barney and Citi Private Bank units.

“We could not be more pleased to have Mike join Fieldpoint Private,” said Mr. Matthews. “Over the past decade he has led some of the most important and effective brand communication efforts our industry has seen, and he will play an important role as we continue to introduce Fieldpoint Private,” Mr. Matthews said. “He has a keen understanding of what is on the minds of wealthy clients today, and a real talent for demonstrating the difference true wealth management can make in people’s lives.”

“I chose to join Fieldpoint Private because it is already one of the most important financial firms in the country, not because of its size but because of its belief system,” Mr. White said. “Its founders crafted it on the principles that service must be paramount, advice must be utterly unconflicted, and the firm’s offering should be so complete that its strategies can be delivered entirely free of bias,” he added. “As a communications person I can think of no better story to share.”

Before joining Citi, Mr. White spent 20 years in the advertising industry, with firms including J. Walter Thompson, BBDO, Bozell/Temerlin-McClain, and Arnold Worldwide. His work included the reintroduction of the Bank of America brand following its acquisition by Nationsbank, and marketing campaigns for Royal Bank of Scotland‘s Citizens Bank unit and Blue Cross Blue Shield, both of which were recognized by the American Marketing Association as the most effective of the year in their respective industries.

Mr. White is a graduate of the Marquette University College of Journalism.
