Steve’s breakdown: This is the second big move for the brewer. Last May we reported Pabst Blue Ribbon moves to LA. Now look for big initiatives out of the new guy. As far as the featured video . . . you’re welcome!
LOS ANGELES: CA: Pabst Brewing Co. said Friday that it has hired long-time Anheuser-Busch executive Dan McHugh to be its chief marketing officer.
McHugh spent two decades at the St. Louis brewer in various media and marketing jobs before leaving in Oct. 2009, when he was vice president of media, sponsorship and activation. Since then, he has worked as a consultant and worked for a marketing agency.
Now he’ll become chief marketing officer at the nation’s fifth-best selling brewer, one that has a portfolio of subpremium brands that have often taken quirky, off-beat approaches to selling beer.
“Dan has a proven track record as an outside the box strategist, which makes him the perfect candidate to lead Pabst’s marketing efforts,” said Evan and Daren Metropolous, co-owners of Pabst Brewing Co., in a statement. “His ability to execute unique campaigns for a diverse portfolio of brand means he can respond to the distinctive values of our products and consumers.”
Pabst also recently hired John Coleman, who led sales in western states for A-B, as its president.
“This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for,” McHugh said. “I’m looking forward to contributing to the continued growth of what is truly an American institution.”
