Ann Inc seek PR representation 1 year after name change

Steve’s breakdown: I’m not too sure about the name change from Ann Taylor to Ann but I guess they have their reasons.

COLUMBUS, OH: Ann Inc. is in the midst of a PR agency review.

The fashion-apparel company, which owns the Ann Taylor and Loft brands, did not respond to a request for comment.

It’s understood that the scope of work could include traditional corporate communications and corporate social responsibility.

In 2009, the company hired Shadow PR to support Ann Taylor’s fashion PR initiatives and Paul Wilmot Communications — now part of Omnicom’s Fleishman-Hillard — to handle PR for the Ann Taylor Loft brand. The company is no longer working with either firm and in recent years has moved the bulk of its PR in-house.

The last time the company was in the news in a major way was in April 2010, when the Loft brand became the subject of a Federal Trade Commission probe into its blogger-gifting strategy. At the time, the company was using mostly internal communications resources.

Last March, the company changed its corporate name from Ann Taylor Stores Corporation to Ann Inc.
