BRIDGWATER, NJ: The move follows Sanofi’s acquisition of German rival Boehringer Ingelheim’s consumer drugs division last year.

Publicis Media’s Zenith is believed to handle the majority of Sanofi’s media planning and buying, while WPP’s Group M looks after some of the former Boehringer Ingelheim business.

Sanofi has appointed ID Comms, the London-based intermediary, to manage the review, which covers 60 markets, including the US and Japan. Media industry sources suggested that Sanofi has told agencies it is openminded and may not be looking to consolidate its media into a single group.

Sanofi owns brands including insect-bite cream Anthisan, diarrhoea medicine Dioralyte and conjunctivitis treatment Brochlor.
