Steve’s breakdown: They are saying there are 5 agencies pitching but with the right background, you could be the 6th,
LONDON, UK: Department store chain House of Fraser is reviewing its media planning and buying arrangements as part of wider overhaul of its marketing.
The 60-store chain has invited four agencies to pitch against incumbent Starcom MediaVest Group, which has handled the account for 14 years. An appointment is expected to be made by the end of the summer.
The review comes amid intense speculation about the future of House of Fraser, with chairman Don McCarthy understood to be looking to offload his stake.
McCarthy is understood to have held talks with Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley, among other parties.
House of Fraser reported record Christmas sales driven by its increased focus on fashion and own-label brands. It reported a 7.5% rise in fashion sales, with menswear up 7.4% and a 17.5% rise in accessories sales.
