Planet Sports looks to win over customers with new agency
Steve’s breakdown: Here another one of those brands that’s part of a giant portfolio of brands in multiple categories. This happens a lot in India. But the good news is, you win one and you’re on the perfered vendor list.
MUMBAI, India: Planet Sports, the sportswear retail brand from the stable of Future Group, is looking for a creative partner. Though there has been no formal pitch announcement on the part of the authorities yet, the team has started meeting agencies and seeking basic credentials.
The process is underway in Mumbai. So far, a couple of agencies are in conversation with the brand team.
Of late, the brand has not been very active on the communication front. Sources inform afaqs! that this is bound to change in the days ahead as the brand now plans to focus more on its branding, positioning and advertising.
It may be noted that Delhi-based D&H Blurb Communications has worked on the creative mandate for Planet Sports in the recent past. The agency acquired this name in 2009, when Future Brands, a part of the Future Group, picked up a significant stake in the agency. D&H stands for Dhar&Hoon, which is what the agency was called prior to its association with Future Brands.
A couple of years ago, Planet Sports underwent a logo revamp. The then new look stood for sports-related values such as speed, dynamism and power. The colour of the logo was deemed to be symbolic of freshness, power, confidence and agility.
Earlier this year, Future Supply Chain Solutions, the logistics and supply chain vertical of the Future Group, initiated a creative pitch process in Mumbai; the process is still underway.
Around the same time, Pantaloon Retail’s FBB (Fashion@BigBazaar) appointed Company as its creative agency. Late last year, M&C Saatchi was appointed as the creative agency for Future Group’s T24 mobile.
