Wells Fargo wants to go farther: social media in review

Steve’s breakdown: Hopefully you’ve been invited to partisipate. If not, it’s time to get your credentials over to Selected Resources International who’s handling the pitch.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA: It appears that our sources were pretty much spot-on as we’ve received confirmation that San Francisco-based financial services company Wells Fargo is seeking some social media help. The brand, which basically completed its transition from Wachovia to Wells Fargo 18 months ago, is not necessarily looking for a social AOR, though, as a spokesperson tells us. Read below:

“We are in the process of doing an RFP to select a handful of social media agencies for use by the company. Those selected will then complete our brand training to be a source of assistance for the company as needed. We are not selecting a social media agency of record and have not had one in the past either.”

We’ve been told there is no “hard timeline” on the social search. Santa Monica, CA-based Selected Resources International, which recently managed reviews for Southwest and Taco Bell digital, is serving as a consultant on the Wells Fargo matter. DDB LA, meanwhile, leads creative duties for the bank chain.
