LOS ANGELES, CA: Skype is seeking agency support for a new international project.
The process is understood to focus on Skype’s efforts to build a stronger presence in entertainment and music. A number of firms have been contacted regarding the brief, with presentations expected to take place later this month.
Skype global comms head Brian O’Shaughnessy said that the company’s existing global agency arrangements are not under review. Skype works with Kaplow in the US, Grayling and Text 100 in Europe, and Bite Communications in Asia-Pacific.
“We have a variety of potential projects on the horizon where we may look to augment our current partner relationships,” said O’Shaugnessy. “But I don’t have anything to report now.”
Skype has stepped up its consumer marketing efforts in recent months, launching a global campaign that aims to show how its service enables “more human” communications. The internet calling service is hoping to grow awareness of its offering beyond video calls.
Skype was acquired by Microsoft last year for $8.5bn.
