SAN FRANCISCO, CA: Ebates, the pioneer and leader in cash back shopping and subsidiary of the global internet services company Rakuten, today announced the acquisition of ShopStyle from PopSugar Inc., a global media and technology company and the #1 Millennial lifestyle brand for women.
ShopStyle is a leading fashion discovery and search platform that partners with brands, retailers, stylists and top bloggers to bring exclusive content and unique style perspectives directly to ShopStyle shoppers.
The acquisition will strengthen Ebates’ position in product discovery and will enhance its expertise in the fast-growing fashion vertical.
“ShopStyle is the leading platform for fashion curation and discovery—and fashion is a key area of growth for Ebates,” said Kevin H. Johnson, CEO of Ebates. “We’re thrilled to work with ShopStyle and PopSugar to connect even more shoppers with the right retailers through unique digital content. Content commerce is critical to the future of ecommerce, and ShopStyle is the natural fit to help us reach the next level of market leadership.”
Additionally, Ebates and PopSugar Media are announcing an exclusive content commerce partnership to develop creative and engaging content to drive traffic to fashion merchants. The partnership will allow PopSugar to focus on creating compelling content, while relying on Ebates’ expertise in ecommerce and loyalty marketing to provide shoppers with an unparalleled shopping experience.
“Ebates has an established and respected history in providing shoppers access to the best online shopping deals,” said Brian Sugar, CEO of PopSugar Inc. “We are excited that ShopStyle will accelerate its growth by leveraging Ebates’ expertise in ecommerce. At the same time, this will provide PopSugar the opportunity to further invest in and double down on our position as the leading global media lifestyle company for young women.”
