SAN DIEGO, CA: After more than 25 years, Intuit continues to transform business and financial management for small and mid-sized businesses, corporate workgroups, consumers, and accounting professionals. With FY12 revenues of $4.2B and over 8000 employees Intuit is currently going through a fundamental transformation from a shrink-wrapped software company to one of the country’s leading providers of ‘connected’ applications and services. Today Intuit sells more product online than major on-line retailers like BlueNile.com, Buy.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and CompUSA; it has some of the most successful Software-as-a-Service offerings in the market (TurboTax online, QuickBooks online, Quicken Online, Homestead.com, etc.); it powers the online banking and payroll experiences for millions of customers; and much more.
Reporting to the GM/SVP of the Consumer Group, Dan Maurer, the Vice President – Marketing, Consumer Group (CG) will be the key driver of CG’s marketing initiatives. This individual will be responsible for the development and execution of the overall CG marketing strategy in an effort to drive significant growth of customers, revenue, and consistently better ROI in this important business unit. With CG revenues in excess of $1.5B and over 25 million customers the TurboTax brand has a growth opportunity in the market to convert 40 million additional new customers from current tax store & CPA users. This role offers channel complexity (traditional retail, direct, on-line, social, mobile, financial institution, and government) as well as competition in the market (stores, CPA’s, Government, on-line).
The Vice President Marketing, CG, leads a team of more than 75 marketing professionals with 6 direct reports including the Directors of Direct Marketing & Market Service Operations, New Product & User Experience, On-line Marketing and Market Research.
The Consumer Group includes the TurboTax and Quicken brands, based in San Diego, California. Intuit’s Corporate Headquarters are located in Mountain View, California.
As is almost always the case, success in this position will be dependent on several key leadership and technical competencies. The core objective will be to deliver on rigorous, innovative and quantifiable business objectives. Accomplishing these objectives will come through influence and teaching, as well as through line authority. Therefore, the ability to directly and successfully lead and develop a talented team of high-performing marketing and product professionals in a rapid-growth environment is essential, as is a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across a broader organization to ensure that goals are accomplished.
A technical marketing competency is also critical to achieve success in the role. Consumer, brand, marketplace, multi-channel, and customer marketing skills will be required to achieve the growth expectations. At the top of this list is having go-to-market capabilities including traditional plus emerging social and mobile marketing, which includes using the internet as the medium for customer contact, new product innovation and commercialization, market research, service, and delivery. In addition, skill excellence is required in traditional marketing areas, such as advertising development, retail etc.
This critical role will be a member of Consumer Group Senior Staff to ensure our care, development, product strategies are coordinated and jointly driven to achieve success across the brand.
Create a vision and sense of purpose internally and externally that will define the direction, build, and grow a superior marketing organization and align the broader organization to it. Provide leadership in the development and management of productive relationships across the system – functioning as a business, brand, consumer and customer advocate.
Establish and maintain clear roles and responsibilities, and communicate them broadly throughout the organization.
Clearly establish, communicate and align the organization behind a growth strategy for the business.
Deliver the annual revenue and profit forecast through the development and execution of excellent marketing plans
Lead the development and implementation of marketing plans that further define and communicate a value proposition and builds the Intuit/Quicken/TurboTax brand equity/image.
Identify, collaborate, assess, and develop new products and services which can substantially grow the CG business overtime.
Direct the development and implementation of a planning process that enhances strategic thinking and facilitates customer responsiveness and aggressive decision-making.
Develop an organization structure and Talent plan to support the strategic needs of the company – drive for efficiency and improve effectiveness. Serve as architect and builder of CG’s go-to-market and marketplace strategy across all channels/markets.
Develop a pragmatic set of internal and external measures and metrics to scorecard the strategy’s progress.
Ensure that a fact/data based culture emerges supported by strong market analytics and research insights.
Drive a performance-based culture with clearly articulated individual accountabilities and business goals.
Recognize with foresight, and quickly assimilate competitive consumer and industry changes/trends and insights, and craft and implement appropriate strategies, tactics, and action to gain advantage in the market and with consumers.
Qualifications:
– BA, MBA preferred
– 15+ years of marketing and/or general management experience with a demonstrated track record of success
– 4+ years of executive level experience being the head marketing leader or GM for a 300M business or division
– Must have consumer packaged goods industry experience
– Managed teams of 50+ and budgets of 50M+
– Must have strong on-line marketing experience
