ARLINGTON, VA: The Nature Conservancy has hired Richard Loomis as its new chief marketing officer. Loomis previously worked as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Disney Channels Worldwide. As CMO, Loomis will lead the Conservancy’s global marketing strategy and will drive deeper investments in digital marketing, social media, engagement, membership and analytics. His role spans to include managing leadership of The Nature Conservancy’s content and publishing teams, and external global communications.

“Richard brings vast and proven experience helping world-class brands grow their marketing, creative, advertising and social media programs,” said Mark Tercek, president and CEO of The Nature Conservancy. “We’re excited to draw on his leadership as we work to inspire more support for conservation and change the way people view the role of nature in their lives.”

At Disney Channels Worldwide, Loomis played a leadership role in portfolio brand strategy of the Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior global businesses. He led the worldwide marketing and creative teams, the related marketing and promotional strategies and the digital and social media marketing that supported the branded networks, content and digital platforms. Under his leadership, the Disney Channels Marketing and Creative team was recognized with many prestigious industry awards including Emmy, PromaxBDA, CTAM Mark and Telly Awards.

“We are facing a critical crossroad in the sustainability of the planet, making the work of The Nature Conservancy more urgent than ever,” said Loomis. “I am incredibly excited to work with their global team of scientists, policy experts, conservationists, fundraisers and world-class marketers to advance their mission to conserve the lands and waters that our lives depend upon.”

Before joining Disney, he held marketing leadership positions at Comedy Central and Nickelodeon, and started his career in advertising. He holds a B.A. in business and international relations from the College of Wooster.
