Brand Birthdays are a great time to Pitch
Steve’s breakdown: It takes a little research but calling on brands that are about to celebrate and significant anniversary is so easy because it’s a great conversation starter.
We’ve highlighted and few brand birthdays in 2016:
Sonic the Hedgehog is 25!
Did you know that Sonic the Hedgehog was originally named “Mr. Needlehouse”? The little hedgehog debuted 25 years ago on the Sega Genesis home video game console and became one of the best-selling video game franchises in history. Sega has several anniversary-related merchandising plans in the works, with companies like Bioworld, Archie Comics, and First 4 Figures, to celebrate with toys, books, magazines, clothing, and yes, collectibles.
Musician Johnny Gioeli of the band Crush 40, which has worked on several Sonic games, let loose this informational tidbit on Facebook that was deleted quickly afterward: “We are planning a few performances for 2016 to commemorate the anniversary of Sonic. We ‘might’ participate in writing new songs for the anniversary game…stay tuned…”
