BRUSSELS and BURBANK, CA: nWave Pictures Distribution is pleased to announce the appointment of Julien Bollee as its Senior Vice-President, Strategy & Sales. In this role, Bollee will be responsible for expanding the company’s distribution business at major US and international institutional and location-based entertainment venues as well as for identifying new distribution opportunities. Bollee has also been named Chief Marketing Officer and, in this position, he will lead promotional and communication activities for nWave’s group of companies.
Bollee joins nWave from London-based 3D Entertainment Distribution, where he has been Chief Operating Officer and Chief Marketing Officer since 2009. Previously, he was Director of Sales & Marketing at that firm and, before that, he headed a company that specialized in news and analysis of the giant screen business. He will report directly to Eric Dillens, nWave Studios’ Chairman.
“I am delighted to join nWave, a company I know and respect and whose name is synonymous with original quality entertainment,” said Bollee. “I will be leveraging my experience of more than 15 years in the IMAX film industry to maximize every opportunity for growth in our various business segments. In addition, it is our ambition to build a strong line-up of first-class films and at the same time strengthen our marketing and servicing efforts to meet our clients’ needs.”
“Julien has a proven track record of achievement in film distribution and is well respected within the industry,” said Eric Dillens, Chairman of nWave Studios. “Julien began working as a consultant for our company two months ago and was instrumental in the successful acquisition of the distribution rights for ‘Penguins 3D’ from UK-based Atlantic Productions. His in-depth knowledge of the business coupled with his operational and industry expertise will greatly benefit our organization as it provides film buyers with a steady flow of the highest-quality films over the coming years.”
A French citizen born in Orleans (France), Bollee holds an MBA from IAE Aix-en-Provence (Graduate School of Management) and is a graduate from the Lyon Institute of Political Sciences.
About nWave Studios: nWave Studios, an associate company of StudioCanal, is the first fully integrated digital studio in the world specializing exclusively in the production and distribution of immersive stereoscopic/3D films. The studio’s history dates back to 1994, when it was founded by Ben Stassen and D&D Entertainment Group, an independent TV production company. The Belgian company quickly established itself as the world’s leading independent producer and distributor of specialty films for location-based entertainment and institutional venues. Over the last 15 years, nWave has become a leader in these market segments, having handled the sales and marketing of an impressive catalog of 50 plus titles (e.g., “The Little Prince 4D,” “African Adventure 3D,” “Volcano Mine Ride,” “Turtle Vision 4D” and “Haunted Castle 3D”). In 2008, the company produced its first feature-length 3D animated film, “Fly Me to the Moon” ($50M in box office gross), followed two years later by “Sammy’s 3D Adventures” ($85M in box office gross). In 2011, nWave secured a co-production, co-financing and worldwide distribution deal for four new feature-length 3D animated films with Paris-based Studio Canal. nWave Studios is headquartered in Brussels (Belgium) with a satellite office in Los Angeles (Calif.).
