Entertainment company to go more global

Steve’s breakdown: StubHub is bringing in eBay’s ex-head of global performance marketing and we suspect their marketing needs will require global reach.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA: Ticket resale marketplace StubHub named former eBay exec Olivier Ropars vice president and chief marketing officer.

Ropars, who was at eBay for six years most recently, was the head of global performance marketing where he helped drive significant global growth over a three-year period. He started at eBay as the senior director of eBay’s European mobile shopping business.

Ropars will be key to building a global marketing engine to power StubHub’s continued growth and reach throughout the world, said StubHub President Scott Cutler.

“With extensive international experience and a proven ability to drive results, Olivier is the perfect fit for our organization as we innovate in our mission to connect fans to inspiring live event experiences across any screen — anytime, anywhere — worldwide,” Cutler says in a release.

Ropars, who is an engineer with expertise in business, has held various roles as a strategist and growth leader prior to eBay in the technology and retail sector, including McKinsey & Company and Motorola, Inc. He is a graduate of UTC Compiegne in France and earned an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
