MENLO PARK, CA: Facebook is looking for an innovative executive to build, manage and inspire a global marketing organization focused on its consumer business and overall company reputation. This position will be responsible for the portfolio of apps – Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Corporate Brand. This position requires substantial experience across the full suite of consumer marketing disciplines for product marketing, digital marketing, regional and country programs, social media, retail & channel marketing, marketing analytics, branding, events and partnerships. This executive is a natural storyteller with a passion for new markets and technologies, connecting with consumers in non-obvious and creative ways. This executive must welcome the challenge to build marketing in an organization that is engineering led and still learning to capitalize on marketing’s impact. As a key member of the Facebook management team, this executive will be responsible for the company’s core marketing strategy and execution. A highly analytics based track record and substantial experience in managing sizable organizations are also strong requirements. Above all, this executive has demonstrated success managing high-profile brands, with a focus on technology brands. This person is extremely passionate and energized about Facebook’s products and company mission to bring the world closer together.

Chief Marketing Officer Responsibilities
  • Product Marketing Management: owner of core positioning and messaging for the family of apps — targeting both niche and broader consumer audiences
  • Scale a product launch team to field new products and features that generate strong consumer support and use.
  • Brand Development: responsible for developing the full spectrum of the Facebook brand targeting early adopters, broad consumers, media and partners
  • includes brand architecture & personality, product naming, advertising, social media and content strategy.
  • Marketing Analytics: quickly establish a highly analytics driven approach to all aspects of marketing
  • leverage internal Facebook resources to create a growth-focused mentality entirely based on data and experimentation (on platform, off platform/other digital, offline media).
  • Regional Marketing: develop and execute regional and country-specific campaigns to address policy concerns, build consumer support and test new features.
  • Event Planning: co-owner of strategy and execution of Facebook consumer and major brand events, online and offline, including high-production stage product launch events.
  • Sales: partner with the Facebook sales organization to build relationships with major company CMOs.
  • Communications: partner with the Facebook communications organization on all aspects related to press and media.
  • Leadership, Organizational Development and Marketing Operations: build, inspire and develop a global marketing organization
  • hire key directors and managers as needed to accelerate business growth.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in consumer marketing, including 5+ years operating at CMO level or equivalent for a major consumer technology organization
  • Proven overall consumer product instincts, demonstrated experience in developing product positioning, messaging and selling points
  • Demonstrated expertise in building, executing and measuring data-driven marketing programs across online and traditional channels, highly skilled in the use of analytics tools and ROI metrics
  • Proven track record delivering highly creative, integrated consumer demand and education programs (ATL and BTL) with industry leading effectiveness
  • Proven track record delivering memorable social media campaigns which have generated momentum for a brand
  • Proven track record planning and executing successful high-production launch events attended by upwards of 300 media and livestream audiences in the 100,000s
  • Accomplished organization builder, having hired (ideally from the ground up) and managed complete marketing teams with at least 3 levels and a total staff of 200+, very knowledgeable on measuring performance of marketing professionals
  • Experience managing marketing budgets upwards of US$500 million
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience encompassing hardware and software innovation, led the development of at least one major global consumer technology brand either from the ground up or through a major transformation, capable of driving the entire creative process through their insights and vision
