WILLIAMSBURG, VA: This position has been reopened and previous applicants are still under consideration. The incumbent will serve as the Chief Marketing Officer for the School of Business and provide experience and effective leadership in the design, development and implementation of contemporary marketing and communication strategies and programs focused on attracting and retaining a highly effective and qualified students. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Leveraging knowledge and understanding of applicable higher education trends and strategies enhancing lead generating effectiveness and brand awareness. Consistently provide tools, process improvement and information that enhance individual, departmental, and organizational performance. Talent in facilitating, influencing and negotiating agreements and collaborations between various business groups and individuals. Effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment. Lead and develop change management strategies in marketing and communication programs within academic institutions While the position has overall strategic and leadership responsibilities, it is very much hands-on in working with staff, faculty and students and is involved in the day-to-day production of communications in various formats. Duties include but are not limited to: Leadership Lead and manage the staff of Marketing and Communications through effective performance management, goal setting, and team building. Provide the leadership that leads to the development and execution of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan for the School, including themes, target audiences, media selection, and projected audience impact; develop budget to operationalize strategies. Marketing and Communications Collaborate with the necessary School and College constituents on web-related content, the development of social media assets, and the use of video and related multimedia resources. Cultivate a wide range of media sources and proactively connect the press to stories about the Mason School; facilitate access to campus experts and spokespersons. Responsible for communications and marketing strategies that integrate the needs of the School as a whole to raise the visibility, develop recognition, and enhance the image of Mason to the campus community and external audiences. Analytical and Budgets Apply quantitative and qualitative market research to guide strategy and drive interest in programs and assess the impact of the campaigns. Plan, direct and oversee School-wide marketing research, including preparing reports and analyses, identifying marketing trends, and recommending responses to those trends. The individual must be a highly efficient, effective, results-oriented, driven individual with the following qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Marketing or other related discipline and significant or extensive professional level of experience or specialized expertise. Progressively responsible marketing and communications experience demonstrating knowledge of broad concepts, policies and procedures related to marketing and communications Experience in brand management and marketing and the use of marketing analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communications; Demonstrates strong business acumen, strategic thinking skills, strategic planning and project management experience Demonstrates strong leadership and management skills and ability to develop, manage and inspire a talented and diverse staff. Superior verbal, written, editing and speaking skills to communicate with diverse audiences Keen understanding of the use of social networking to foster brand strength Demonstrate the ability to think both strategically and creatively in the planning and execution of multi-channel communications and media relations to support enrollment, engage alumni, and advance programs and services of the School. Demonstrated strong problem solving and decision making skills; Demonstrated capability to deliver projects on time and on budget; Experience writing speeches, editorial content and publications; Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office products and Salesforce.com, and pay per click (PPC) advertising and digital technologies.

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree or MBA Preferred. Higher Education experience preferred Have a successful record of implementing new and creative approaches to improve enrollment outcomes, Proficiency with advanced techniques in spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
