Kiva seeks kind sole for CMO
SAN FRANCISCO: Bring lenders to Kiva’s “front door” by making the company one of the best known and loved global brands for leveraging technology to drive social good. Through publicity, social media and marketing partnerships, you will elevate Kiva’s awareness and make Kiva the go-to solution for engaging in some of the world’s most pressing social problems through the power of micro-lending.
Communications & PR (40% of responsibility)
Lead PR strategy and execution, levering pro-bono relationships with Fleishman-Hillard.
Identify and pitch trend stories that communicate the unique selling points of Kiva’s brand and secure top coverage from national print, online and TV media outlets.
Work with industry analysts, influencers, and media to ensure Kiva is viewed as the expert and thought leader in crowd funding for social good.
Serve as company spokesperson, and coach and support other spokespeople.
Plan and manage an integrated communications approach that leverages multiple new/current lender touch points to increase overall awareness and engagement, drive promotional campaigns and announce new product launches. Communications channels include PR, social media, blog, Kiva lending teams, Teach Kiva, Kiva alumni groups, etc.
Support internal organizations with communication needs (e.g. assist the Partnership Team as it adds new international field partners, help the Development Team manage new sponsors, etc.)
Manage Community Support teams, responding to lender inquiries and liaising with lending teams.
Ensure consistent messaging and brand usage across the company by overseeing the ongoing maintenance and dissemination of Kiva’s style guide and key messaging library.
Marketing and Media Partnerships (35% of responsibility)
Identify, drive & support new brand building corporate partnerships with online properties that efficiently and effectively reach new audiences, e.g. online couponing sites, eretailers, online travel sites, etc.
Work closely with the Development team to leverage corporate donor relationships for co-branded consumer marketing campaigns.
Develop media partnerships to secure PSA space to megaphone the Kiva brand to new audiences through a variety of online and offline channels, e.g. with companies like Clear Channel, JCDecaux, Lifetime, iVillage, etc.
Manager and Executive Team Member (25%)
Manage a team of highly motivated and passionate professionals to excel at delivering Kiva’s message through an integrated communications approach.
Help shape Kiva’s overall strategy, culture and organization.
Report to President with significant exposure to the Board.
Executive experience at a consumer-oriented internet company is strongly preferred, will also consider experience in a financial or nonprofit organization.
+10 years work experience, including +5 years of direct PR / Communications, and/or +5 years marketing partnership experience.
Excellent manager who can lead staff, volunteers and pro-bono agencies to great results
Strong track record of building a grassroots brand.
Exceptionally smart; quick learner; excellent oral & written communications
