DENVER, CO: Farm Credit, a national provider of financing and related services to agriculture and rural America, has issued a Request for Qualifications for third-party agencies to support preparations for the nationwide network’s centennial celebration in 2016.

The Farm Credit System was established on July 17, 1916 when President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Farm loan Act, which created the Federal Land Banks and Federal Farm Loan Board. This allowed for government start-up capital for cooperative agricultural lending agencies – today’s Farm Credit associations.

“Farm Credit has been serving rural America for nearly 100 years, and we are seeking the right partner to help us begin to prepare for this once in a lifetime milestone,” said Leigh Picchetti, senior vice president of communications for Farm Credit. “Farm Credit organizations are cooperatively owned by the borrowers they serve, and our centennial activities will be focused on celebrating the partnerships we create with our customers and honoring their vital contributions to both rural and urban America.”

Today, the Farm Credit System has assets of $230 billion and gross loans of nearly $175 billion, making Farm Credit a significant source of capital and related financial services to the agriculture industry. Interested parties can view the Request for Qualifications for additional information.
