Our Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has an outstanding opportunity for a Chief Marketing Officer .

The Chief Marketing Officer manages the Marketing, Brand Development, Promotion, and Game Day Experience for the Athletic Department’s 22 sport teams. This position reports to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs and has six direct reports.

Marketing and Promotion: 

The Chief Marketing Officer works closely with the Marketing staff, Ticket Office, Tyee Club Office and external vendors to develop marketing plans for the Department’s two main revenue sports, Football and Men’s Basketball. The above mentioned team is responsible for focusing marketing efforts on the following audiences: season ticket holders, potential ticket buyers, students, faculty and staff.

The Chief Marketing Officer also directs the development and implementation of marketing and promotional plans for the remaining 20 sports.

This position serves as the Department’s liaison to external creative agencies as well as all local and national media buys. The Chief Marketing Officer oversees the budgets for Marketing, Advertising, Promotions and our Spirit programs.

Branding: 

The Chief Marketing Officer oversees all of the Department’s branding efforts. This includes all facility branding (indoor/outdoor), approval on all Trademarks & Licensing and merchandise design, as well as branded sponsorship activation and printed pieces.

Game Day Experience: 

The Chief Marketing Officer manages the Game Day Experience and creative teams who produce and facilitate all game day presentations and promotions for sports with video board elements.

The team includes the following:
– The Director of Marketing and Game Day Experience
– (2) Assistant Directors of Promotions and Game Day Experience
– Art Director for Creative Services and Design
– Director of Video and Multi-Media Presentations
– Design Director of Digital Displays
– The Marketing Internship Program

The position serves as the liaison to IMG Properties on the approval of sponsorship elements for in game purposes.

Husky Marching Band and Spirit Programs: 

The Chief Marketing Officer manages the Husky Marching Band as well as the Department’s Spirit programs. This includes budget oversight, scheduling and travel.

Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree and seven years of experience at a NCAA Division 1 athletic program and/or a Professional Sports Organization, or Association in marketing, in-game production, promotion or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Management/supervisory experience. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively. Poised, professional manner with the ability to work well with diverse types of individuals. Ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Condition of Employment:

Evenings and weekends will be required.
