ArtSpace.com brings in a CMO from Saks
NEW YORK, NY: Catherine Levene and Chris Vroom, the co-founders of online art marketplace Artspace.com, have announced that Kinjil Mathur is to join the company as Chief Marketing Officer.
Mathur leaves her former position of Vice President of Digital Marketing for Saks Fifth Avenue, and is to be responsible for developing Artspace’s digital marketing strategies, as well as extending a growing network of global collectors.
Commenting on the appointment, Levene and Vroom stated: “We are thrilled Kinjil Mathur will be joining our growing team… She has had an illustrious career marketing to a cultured, discerning individual that looks for quality in all aspects of their lives. We feel that there is substantial crossover between the luxury and art sectors.” Mathur commented: “Artspace’s commitment to offering greater access to the world’s top contemporary art – combined with its dedication to supporting artists and cultural institutions worldwide – resonate with my own values. With the recent appointment of Maria Baibakova as Strategic Director and a Series B raise of $8.5 million in February, it truly is an exciting time to be joining Artspace.”
Artspace.com was founded in March 2011 by Christopher Vroom and Catherine Levene, and is the only online platform which allows collectors to purchase works by contemporary artists directly from leading commercial galleries and cultural institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R.Guggenheim Museum, David Zwirner and White Cube.
