Mohegan Sun hires ex-Bacardi exec to be marketing chief

MOHEGAN, CT: Mohegan Sun has hired Bacardi USA’s marketing chief to be its new chief marketing officer. Paul Wright was named to the position Wednesday. He replaces Anthony Patrone, who resigned in March. Bacardi USA Inc. is a liquor producer whose brands include Grey Goose Vodka and Bombay Sapphire Gin.

Other posts Wright has held during his 25 years in marketing include vice president of marketing at Coca-Cola Co. as well as senior brand manager/director of marketing at Warner-Lambert Co., a drug company that was bought by Pfizer Inc. in 2000, and General Mills. Wright started as an intern at General Mills, one of the world’s largest food companies whose lines include Betty Crocker and Pillsbury, and worked his way up.

“Paul brings a tremendous background and wealth of experience in direct mail, brand marketing, advertising and PR (public relations) areas,” Sun President and CEO Jeff Hartmann said. “I am very excited to have Paul join our team after an extensive national search.”
