NEW YORK, NY: NYC & Company, New York City’s official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, has announced industry veteran Abby Spatz has joined the company as chief marketing officer. In her new role, Spatz will lead the company’s marketing group and will oversee the in-house creative, digital, editorial, photography and video teams as she directs and implements the company’s strategic marketing plan. Spatz will report to Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company.

“Abby is a forward-thinking and accomplished marketing executive who will play a critical role in spreading the welcoming image of New York City’s five boroughs around the world,” said Dixon. “We are dedicated to inspiring travel to the City, and Abby’s wealth of experience will help expand the future potential of the industry and motivate visitation.”

Spatz joins NYC & Company from the spa and beauty brand Bliss, where she served as the head of integrated marketing and communications. Prior to that Spaz spent 20-plus years working across a range of marketing functions with global consumer lifestyle brands including as managing partner at MEC/MediaEdge, where she led the Chanel business for the WPP-agency; head of Consumer Engagement and Integrated Marketing at eBay; senior director of Integrated Marketing & Advertising for Hilton where she led the award-winning “Travel Should Take You Places” global campaign; vice president and account director at Momentum Worldwide; senior brand manager at American Express; and North American account supervisor at McCann-Erickson World Wide, where she worked on The Coca-Cola Company’s ad campaigns as well as with the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau in preparation for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Spatz has been recognized by Brandweek as one of its Next Generation Marketers, in addition to receiving awards from Yahoo, AdAge/Ad Critic, HSMAI and Cambridge. Spatz holds a BA and an MBA from Emory University, in Atlanta. She resides in Manhattan.
