NEWPORT NEWS, CA: Ferguson recently announced Mike Brooks has been named the company’s new chief marketing officer.

The plumbing wholesale company, which is based out of Newport News, is the largest wholesale distributor of residential and commercial plumbing supplies and pipe, valves and fittings in the U.S.

Brooks is a graduate of Fanshawe College in London and received his MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He joined Ferguson’s parent company, Wolseley plc, in 1997 as the director of information technology for stock building supply.

Over the past two decades Brooks has held a number of positions at Wolseley plc and Ferguson. He was promoted to vice president of information technology in 2001 and then vice president of information systems and technology for the North American Region in 2005.

In 2007, Brooks took on the position of vice president of eBusiness for the North American Region, and he has guided Ferguson’s eBusiness efforts in that capacity since then.

“Bringing our e-commerce and marketing teams together under Mike’s leadership will … create a consistent world-class customer service experience across the country, culminating a national Ferguson brand,” Ferguson CEO Frank Roach said.

In his new role, Brooks will be responsible for expanding on new business development and meeting the rapidly changing needs of Ferguson’s customers.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Brooks also serves on Oracle’s eCommerce Customer Advisory Board and as a board member of the Lackey Clinic.

“I’m excited to work with a great team of associates,” Brooks said. “We recognize our customers’ needs are changing, and together, we will focus on areas where we can enhance and exceed their expectations everywhere they transact with us – whether in a Ferguson branch, online or over the phone.”
