Rockland Trust appoints chief marketing officer

HANOVER, MA: Rockland Trust has announced the appointment of Mark Gibson as chief marketing officer.

Gibson will be responsible for directing the bank’s brand strategy, marketing communications, public relations, customer insight, web site, and product management functions.

He will be charged with increasing brand awareness and assisting the bank in growing loans, deposits, and fee income.

Gibson has nearly 30 years of relevant experience to draw upon, most recently at NewAlliance Bank, a $9 billion bank in New Haven, Connecticut, where, as Chief Marketing Officer, he helped transform the bank’s brand prior to its purchase by First Niagara.

Prior to that, Gibson served for 13 years in a similar role at BBVA Compass, a $60 billion bank in Birmingham, Alabama, helping them extend their franchise across Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Florida. Gibson also has more than 10 years of consulting experience with various firms including Coopers & Lybrand in New York, John Ryan Company in Stamford, CT, and Retail Planning Associates and Battelle Memorial Institute, both based in Columbus, Ohio.
