Science Institute gets TaylorMade Golf exec as CMO: Clearly an agency is next

CARLSBAD, CA: GIA (Gemological Institute of America) has appointed Mark Buntz as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Buntz will support the expansion of GIA’s education, instruments business and laboratory services — including the new GIA Diamond Origin Report — into new markets. He succeeds Kathryn Kimmel, who retired in August after 30 years with GIA. Buntz has more than 20 years’ experience in media, entertainment and sports marketing.
He comes to GIA from TaylorMade Golf Company, where he was vice president of global brand marketing. He also held leadership positions with companies including ESPN, NBCUniversal and Hulu. His experience spans global brand marketing, advertising, communications, sales and broadcasting. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcasting from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Visit gia.edu.
