MEMPHIS, TN: ServiceMaster Global Holdings Inc. said former Comcast and Lifelock executive Marvin Davis will replace Mark Barry as chief marketing officer.
The Memphis home services company disclosed Davis’ appointment on Monday. Barry, who joined the company in 2012, announced his retirement in March.
In a statement released by ServiceMaster, chief executive Robert Gillette said Davis is expected to aid its major digital initiative. Last year, the company said it would look for growth opportunities through digital and mobile technologies and by improving service and convenience for millions of residential and commercial customers.
ServiceMaster is moving its 1,200-employee head office from East Memphis to Downtown, a site slated to include its Innovation Center.
“Marvin is a skilled, strategic marketing executive, with a broad background in a range of consumer businesses with large subscriber bases, similar to ours,” Gillette’s statement says. “His track record of achieving customer and revenue growth in other brand-rich categories like wireless, cable, and consumer products and services will be extremely valuable as we shape ServiceMaster’s digital-first future.”
Davis most recently was chief marketing officer at Edelman Financial Services LLC, a wealth manager in Fairfax, Virginia, with a national radio show. He left in December.
Previously, he was chief marketing officer for LifeLock, an identity threat company in Tempe, Arizona, that claims more than 4.4 million subscribers. He was there from 2009 through 2013. In 2009, the Phoenix Mercury woman’s professional basketball franchise signed a three-year deal to replace the name on its jersey with Lifelock.
At Comcast he is credited with helping build the tiered and bundled product portfolio. Earlier he was Verizon Wireless vice president of advertising and brand management when the company launched its “Can You Hear Me Now?” brand campaign.
Davis is a graduate of Emory University in Georgia and received his MBA in marketing from Clark Atlanta University.
Barry, who was president of the ServiceMaster brand American Home Shield before being named CMO, had been president of United Technologies’ Automation and Control Solutions, a unit of UTC’s climate, control and security business. He previously served as president of GE Security-Americas.
ServiceMaster Global brands employ about 40,000 workers worldwide including franchise operations. Brands include American Home Shield, AmeriSpec, Furniture Medic, Merry Maid, ServiceMaster Clean and Terminix.
In the quarter ended June 30, the company reported after-tax profits of $15 million on revenue of $747 million.
