Vermont is getting the word out with new CMO

Steve’s breakdown: A media savvy CMO of a state is a good sign for any agency who wants the account.

MONTPELIER, VT: Lisa Gosselin helped create the online version of EatingWell magazine. Now, her job will be to expand economic development throughout Vermont.

Gosselin, of Stowe, has been appointed the state’s Economic Development commissioner, a position that has gone unfilled for several years but was re-established this year.

“She understands why businesses choose to grow in Vermont and she has the ability to connect the dots and generate the buzz needed to spur economic development in the state,” Gov. Peter Shumlin said in a statement.

The state also announced the appointment of Nancy Driscoll as chief marketing officer. Driscoll has worked the last three years as chief of staff for Lt. Gov. Phil Scott.

Driscoll, of Marshfield, had previously been an independent marketing consultant. She replaces Kathy Murphy, who took a job as communications director at Norwich University. The chief marketing officer oversees branding of the Vermont name and promoting the state.

Lt. Gov. Scott said in a statement that he was interviewing candidates to replace Driscoll as his chief of staff this week and expected to make an announcement next week.
