Iconic Chicago Pizzeria Home Run Inn Redesigns Brand
Steve’s breakdown: The brand redesign is done but the advertising still needs to be created and, as far as I can tell, they have no AOR.
WOODRIDGE, IL: Beginning this month, the family-owned and operated Chicago pizzeria Home Run Inn is rolling out a fresh new look. The leader in Chicago’s authentic thin crust pizza, Home Run Inn is re-energizing all of the brand’s touch points with consumers, including the logo, website, restaurant storefronts, in-restaurant and marketing materials and frozen pizza boxes.
The new logo presents a modern take on its classic look. The refresh was guided by a series of consumer research groups — given Home Run Inn’s commitment to its longstanding fans, the brand took a careful approach in updating its aesthetic while maintaining its connection with customers.
“We’ve been in Chicago serving my family’s pizza recipe for more than 70 years,” said Joe Perrino, CEO and President of Home Run Inn, Inc. “We have a deeply-rooted connection to our guests and are proud to have been here for them throughout the years. We realized that it was time to bring a new look to our brand. We’ve refreshed our image while continuing to offer the same great tasting pizzas our fans have come to know and love.”
Home Run Inn pizzas are made from an original family recipe created in 1947. One of Chicago’s oldest pizzerias, pizzas are baked in tradition and made from scratch daily using all-natural ingredients with no preservatives.
The first Home Run Inn was born in the South Side of Chicago in 1923 after the winning run from a nearby baseball game came crashing through the newly purchased tavern of Mary and Vincent Grittani. For nearly 25 years, their south side Chicago business remained a small, family-run neighborhood bar. In 1947, Nick Perrino married their daughter, Loretta Grittani, and partnered with Mary Grittani to develop the recipe for Home Run Inn pizza, as it is known today.
The second Home Run Inn pizzeria opened in 1987 in Darien, Illinois, under the leadership of Nick and Loretta Perrino’s son, Joe Perrino. Over the next three decades, Home Run Inn opened eight more pizzerias in the Chicagoland area. Today, Home Run Inn is managed by fourth-generation family members and will open its ninth location in Berwyn, Illinois, in fall 2016.
Home Run Inn frozen pizzas are one of the most demanded pizza brands on a national scale, made from scratch using the same original family recipe and all natural ingredients as Home Run Inn restaurant pizzas. One of the first companies to expand into the frozen pizza business, Home Run Inn frozen pizzas are made daily and shipped to grocery stores in more than 40 states offering a true taste of Chicago to guests across the nation.
The refreshed design is in effect on a gradual rollout, with new boxes first hitting shelves in late June. To learn more about Home Run Inn, visit the homeruninnpizza.com or join the online conversation on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
