Steve’s breakdown: A few things . . .
1) For those who don’t know, Peter Piper is like a western version of Chucky Cheese.
2) When ever we see a CMO taking the top spot at any marketer, we think that’s a lead.
3) Chains the new president has held a executive-level marketing position at include Salsarita’s, Captain D’s Seafood, Damon’s, Wendy’s and Pizza Hut.
PHOENIX, AZ: Peter Piper Inc. has picked a new president.
The Phoenix-based pizza chain has promoted Charles Bruce, who served the past three years as the company’s chief marketing officer.
“As president, I have the good fortune to lead the company in the implementation of our growth strategy,” he said in a press release. “Peter Piper Pizza will have plenty to offer millennial consumers as they establish their families.”
During his time as CMO, Bruce crafted and implemented a brand strategy that resulted in 29 consecutive periods of same-store sales growth despite an economic downturn that has not been kind to the restaurant industry, the company said.
Prior to joining Peter Piper, Bruce was senior vice president of marketing at North Carolina-based Salsarita’s. He has held executive-level marketing positions throughout the restaurant industry at Captain D’s Seafood, Damon’s, Wendy’s and Pizza Hut.
Bruce earned his bachelor’s degree in business and Spanish from Kansas State University and Universidad Ibero-Americana in Mexico. Peter Piper has nearly 50 locations in Mexico, and Bruce plans further growth there.
Peter Piper is owned by Washington-based private equity firm Acon Investments LLC.
