PHOENIX, AZ & BOULDER CO: Sprouts Farmers Market and Sunflower Farmers Market on Tuesday announced the closing of the merger of the two companies.
Under a deal announced in March, Phoenix-based Sprouts said it would take over Sunflower Farmers Market, headquartered in Boulder, Colo., forming a combined company with 144 stores.
The recently opened Sprouts store in Citrus Heights is the third Sacramento-area store for the chain, joining locations in Elk Grove and Roseville.
Sunflower operates a store in Roseville and recently opened another in Sacramento’s Land Park neighborhood.
All Sunflower stores will be rebranded under the Sprouts banner. Officials said conversions will begin in July and continue in phases through the end of the year.
