Turn-a-round CEO joining RadioShack = Account Review?
Steve’s breakdown: The new guy has been CEO of Target Australia and CEO of Sears Canada so he has an accent~~. Beyond that, Dene Rogers will be taking the new RadioShack for its next journey. We suspect nothing from the past will take the trip.
FORT WORTH, TX: RadioShack has named a new CEO with retail turnaround and transformation experience.
Dene Rogers will join the company as president and CEO on May 9, 2016. Rogers, who will also serve on RadioShack’s board, previously served as CEO of Target Australia and CEO of Sears Canada, which he led to become Canada’s most profitable online retailer, according to RadioShack.
At RadioShack, Rogers replaces CFO Gordon Briscoe, who has been interim CEO since January when Ron Garriques left the post after serving less than a year.
Roger will “focus on positioning RadioShack’s unique omnichannel platform for long-term growth,” the company said in a statement.
“Dene Rogers has a long and consistent record of business success,” said Robert Lavan, chairman of RadioShack. “Dene shares our commitment to RadioShack’s legacy as the nation’s leading neighborhood electronics convenience store and has an impressive vision for how to expand the business into other segments of the market across a variety of platforms.”
During the past year, RadioShack re-launched its website, positioning it for DIY enthusiasts.
RadioShack brand was acquired out of bankruptcy last spring by Standard General LP. It currently operates over 1,700 company-owned stores, including 1,400 Sprint Stores at RadioShack, and nearly 500 independent dealers nationwide.
